U.S. Marine Corps FILBE Rucksack System
The FILBE (Family of Improved Load Bearing Equipment) is the rucksack system currently issued to the United States Marine Corps. Introduced around 2011 to replace the ILBE (Improved Load Bearing Equipment) pack, the FILBE system is designed for superior durability, comfort, and modularity in demanding combat environments. The entire system is produced in Coyote Brown to match the USMC's MARPAT camouflage uniforms.
The primary component of this system is the main rucksack, often simply called the "FILBE pack."
Key Features
The FILBE rucksack is known for its robust construction and user-focused design:
Materials: Constructed primarily from heavy-duty 500D and 1000D Cordura nylon, it is highly resistant to abrasion, tears, and water. High-stress points are reinforced for exceptional durability.
External Frame: It is built on an external frame system (the "1606 MC" frame) designed by Down East, Inc. This specialized polymer frame is engineered to be more comfortable, ergonomic, and durable than previous ALICE or MOLLE frames, flexing with the user's body while efficiently transferring the load to the hips.
MOLLE/PALS Webbing: The exterior of the pack is covered in PALS (Pouch Attachment Ladder System) webbing, allowing Marines to customize their load-out with MOLLE-compatible pouches, such as sustainment pouches, hydration carriers, or grenade pouches.
Dual Access Main Compartment: The spacious main compartment can be accessed from the top through a large drawstring opening under a fixed lid, or from the bottom via a heavy-duty zippered "sleeping bag compartment." An internal divider can separate these two sections.
Comfort and Adjustability: The system features thickly padded, quick-release shoulder straps and a supportive waist belt that are fully adjustable to fit various body types and accommodate body armor.
Integrated Hydration: It includes a dedicated internal sleeve for a hydration bladder (up to 3 liters/100 oz.) with pass-through ports for the drinking tube.
Lid and Pockets: The fixed top lid contains a large zippered mesh pocket on its underside for organizing smaller items.
Size and Dimensions
The FILBE main pack is designed to carry a substantial load for multi-day missions.
Total Capacity: Approximately 5,000 cubic inches (81 Liters)
Main Compartment: ~3,400 cubic inches (55 Liters)
Lower Compartment: ~1,600 cubic inches (26 Liters)
Approximate Dimensions (Main Pack):
Height: 24 inches
Width: 16 inches
Depth: 14 inches

Let customers speak for us
from 143 reviewsIt's exactly what it was supposed to be. I needed something to fix my ICS seams where the tape has peeled off. I haven't used the sealant yet but I'll more than likely be buying another complete repair kit just in case I need it and don't have it.
Great condition I'll definitely be a return customer
Great selection of supplies and easy to find. Everyone was friendly and helpful.
Very sturdy with many years of use left.
Best spot I've been to. They never overcharge
I got the Improved Combat Shelter tent from Forest City Supply. It was marked as Very Good and was perfect (pretty much brand new). Product was in great shape and shipping was very very fast. I am incredibly pleased with my purchase and will definitely shop with them again. Customer service was also awesome. Very friendly and helpful.
As the Army and Marines are no longer issuing ponchos - they're very scarce - I jumped on the chance to get one and at a decent price! I'm not real familiar with GI ponchos but this one is in very good to excellent condition - no pin holes or ripped grommets and the seam tape is all intact. The material seems thin (I've seen thinner) but again - I'm not familiar with the USGI poncho. UCP isn't for everyone but I prefer it in my environment. This poncho passes inspection and is 'good to go'!
I have purchased quite a bit of gear from Forest City Supply - they are good people. They are fast from order to ship, they are personal if you have special needs and the descriptions of their products are accruate. 10 stars for FCS.
Bought one of the defective ones as a fixer upper, and to be honest.. It wasn't that bad! Some material was stuck together Alil bit of Water/vineager mix and cleaning helped the musty smell. Everything else was in tact! Going to be a great tent for the summer solo trips!
I can't say enough about this family owned business. Perfect example of Americans providing great gear for anyone who gets it! Thank you Forest City Supply family!
