U.S. Military OCP Large Field Rucksack (MOLLE 4000)

The U.S. Military Large Field Rucksack in OCP (Operational Camouflage Pattern) is the current-issue load-bearing pack for the U.S. Army. As part of the evolution of the MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) system, this rucksack, often referred to as the MOLLE 4000, replaced the older ACU-patterned pack and introduced several key design improvements for enhanced functionality, durability, and soldier comfort.

The OCP Large Rucksack retains the core principles of modularity and durability while incorporating user-driven enhancements.

MOLLE 4000 System: The "4000" designates its approximate capacity of 4,000 cubic inches. It is covered in PALS (Pouch Attachment Ladder System) webbing, allowing soldiers to customize their load-out with mission-specific pouches and gear.

Durable Construction: Built from rugged 500 or 1000 Denier Cordura nylon, the pack is designed to withstand the harsh conditions of combat environments. It is highly resistant to abrasion and has water-resistant properties.

Single Large Compartment: Unlike the older ACU rucksack with its lower sleeping bag divider, the MOLLE 4000 features one large main compartment. This design simplifies packing and allows for the storage of larger, uniquely shaped items like radios and other equipment.

Top and Side Access: The pack features a top-loading main compartment with a cinch cord and flap, as well as two full-length zippers on the sides that allow the front panel to be opened completely for easy "clamshell" or "panel-loading" access to all contents.

Upgraded Frame: It utilizes the MOLLE Frame, Gen II (Frame #1603), which is engineered to be more comfortable, ergonomic, and durable than the original black frames used with the ACU system.

Integrated Pouches: The top flap ("assault pack lid") contains a zippered pocket for small items. The pack is designed to integrate seamlessly with two side sustainment pouches (sold separately), which can be attached to the PALS webbing to increase total capacity.
